Distribution Free Confidence Intervals for Quantiles Based on Extreme Order Statistics in a Multi-Sampling Plan

Authors

Abstract:

Extended Abstract. Let Xi1 ,..., Xini   ,i=1,2,3,....,k  be independent random samples from distribution $F^{alpha_i}$،  i=1,...,k, where F is an absolutely continuous distribution function and $alpha_i>0$ Also, suppose that these samples are independent. Let Mi,ni and  M'i,ni  respectively, denote the maximum and minimum of the ith sample. Constructing the distribution-free confidence intervals for quantiles of F based on these informations is the aim of this paper. Various cases have been studied and in each case, the exact non-parametric confidence intervals are obtained. First, we concentrate our attention to the maxima of the samples. Coverage probability of a confidence interval based on two different... [To Continue click here]

Outer and Inner Confidence Intervals Based on Extreme Order Statistics in a Proportional Hazard Model

Let Mi and Mi be the maximum and minimum of the ith sample from k independent sample with different sample sizes, respectively. Suppose that the survival distribution function of the ith sample is F ̄i = F ̄αi, where αi is known and positive constant. It is shown that how various exact non-parametric inferential proce- ′ dures can be developed on the basis of Mi’s and Mi ’s for distribution ...

Confidence Intervals for Lower Quantiles Based on Two-Sample Scheme

In this paper, a new two-sampling scheme is proposed to construct appropriate confidence intervals for the lower population quantiles. The confidence intervals are determined in the parametric and nonparametric set up and the optimality problem is discussed in each case. Finally, the proposed procedure is illustrated via a real data set.

Improved confidence intervals for quantiles

We derive the Edgeworth expansion for the studentized version of the kernel quantile estimator. Inverting the expansion allows us to get very accurate confidence intervals for the pth quantile under general conditions. The results are applicable in practice to improve inference for quantiles when sample sizes are moderate.

Inferences for Extended Generalized Exponential Distribution based on Order Statistics

‎Recently‎, ‎a new distribution‎, ‎named as extended generalized exponential distribution‎, ‎has been introduced by Kundu and Gupta (2011). ‎In this paper‎, ‎we consider the extended generalized exponential distribution with known shape parameters α and β. ‎At first‎, ‎the exact expressions for marginal and product moments of o...

Prediction Intervals of Future Generalized Order Statistics Based on Generalized Extreme Value Distribution

In this paper, three prediction intervals of future generalized order statistics (gos) based on generalized extreme value distribution (GEVD) are constructed. For this purpose, three predictive pivotal quantities are considered, and their exact distributions are established. A Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to explore the efficiency of the proposed method. The obtained results are ...

Bayesian Prediction Intervals for Future Order Statistics from the Generalized Exponential Distribution

Let X1, X2, ..., Xr be the first r order statistics from a sample of size n from the generalized exponential distribution with shape parameter θ. In this paper, we consider a Bayesian approach to predicting future order statistics based on the observed ordered data. The predictive densities are obtained and used to determine prediction intervals for unobserved order statistics for one-sample ...
